Homeopathy is a system of medicine which treats the whole person. Homeopathy can help with most complaints including physical conditions, stress and emotional difficulties. Contact my Stirling Clinic for more details.

What happens in a consultation?

Homeopathy is based on the philosophy that mind, body and emotions are not separate. The homeopath seeks to match the remedy with the patient's psychological and physical symptoms. This will involve taking a full case history and some observations including body posture, expressions and family background. Prolonged emotional stress can result in physical problems and a weakened immune system.  This first in depth consultation will take around 1.5 hours. (follow up appointments last either 30 minutes or 1 hour)

Remedies can be made from 1000's of substances

Can homeopathy be used for acute illness and First Aid?

Homeopathy can safely treat many common ailments, browse our web site for seasonal remedies and more information.  Acute consultations usually last 10 minutes and can often be conducted over the phone.  Remedies can be collected from the clinic if required or picked up at the Stirling Health Food Store in Stirling - see the links for more details.

What if my complaint is long term and chronic?

Treatment is based on the whole person and includes post and present symptoms. This treatment is likely to be more effective when based over several months to strengthen the body's immune system and of course the body heals at the patients' pace.

  What is a homeopathic remedy?

Generally remedies are small pillules and taken orally over just a few days. Of course each individual prescription is unique. Homeopathy can safely treat babies, pregnant women and the elderly. Remedies are safe, gentle, non-toxic and non-addictive.

I've heard that remedies are just 'sugar and water'?

Homeopathic remedies are indeed very small doses. However, they are specially prepared pharmaceutical doses which undergo a specific process; including dilution of ingredients (called potentization), as well as a vigorous shaking (succussion).  See FAQ's for more details.

Do you have to believe / is it just psychological?

The placebo effect is a very powerful one however infants are treated very successfully for common infant ailments such as colic, teething pain and some infections. Animals too have been successfully treated using homeopathy and there are many veterinarians using homeopathic medicines to treat domestic pets and farm aminals.  It is unlikely that either is aware of the 'placebo effect'.

What is my role as the patient?

It is very much the homeopath's job to elicit relevant information by asking questions, and usually probing questions.  The fuller the picture the greater chance of success.  It is important to be frank and offer full explanations of your symptoms.  It is also vitally important to observe changes taking place in the body and therefore most patients will be asked to log details in a short diary over the course of the month.
